Yesterday, 22 June, was Jakarta’s 482 birthday. Best way to celebrate it of course by going to the JAKARTA FAIR 2009 or also known as PRJ (Pekan Raya Jakarta), at Kemayoran.

Jakarta Fair is the biggest event in Indonesia that held routinely every year for a month from mid june to mid july. Last time i went to Jakarta Fair when i was still at elementary school, And after all these years living near PRJ, talking about going there but never did, i finally got the chance to went to the fair.

So, What’s at Jakarta Fair?

First thing you will notice from Jakarta Fair even before entering the PRJ gate is..KERAK TELOR! Kerak Telok is some sort of traditional Betawi omelette and it’s kinda signature food of Jakarta Fair (beause it’s only easy to find them during the Jakarta Fair season).

Honestly…i think you can find around 100 or more kerak telor’s booth surrounding the PRJ area, not to count the kerak telor’s booth inside the Fair.

What about these salty egg with shrimp flavor? hehheheh

Lots and lots of “i love jakarta” accessories

And let’s not forget ONDEL-ONDEL! Jakarta traditional mascot. They are everywhere. I personally think they kinda spooky. Why don’t they give a cuter face to that dolls?

i love love love these “es lilin” (traditional ice cream stick). it tastes just like any standard ice cream, but i love the childhood memory that comes with it.

Welcome to the future MRT Jakarta. Jakarta deserves a better public trasnportation indeed! We have stucked with lousy public trasnportation for too long already.

But you know, we can nag, moan & complain about all sort of inconvinient things in jakarta, but deep down, we, the jakarta’s citizen, just have countless thing that we love about our city.
