Another chance to get it right 7

Jan1

Ah! The end of an old year and the birth of a new year. It almost seems like life comes a full circle every year, with each circle, we grow fuller, wiser, smarter, and happier (hopefully).

With my fuller, wiser, smarter, and happier 2010 self, I’m GOING to:

1. Work smarter, manage my time better, more discipline;  and ultimately double my income last year (Hah!)

2. Buy an iphone 3G as an reward if financial target achieved

3. Write A book (preferably a novel)

4. Doing more charity, paying more attention to people in general & put an effort to be a little more sociable.

5. Learn to balance life. Yoga perhaps?

6. Live Greener. Be more aware of environment issues & doing my part to help.

Well, one can try.

As Oprah Winfrey put it - “Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.”

Happy New Year 2010 All ^^

on suicide 1

Dec2

Couple of days ago, there are 2 suicide incidents on 2 large malls here in Jakarta. Both victims climbed the fences on the fifth floor and jumped down to the center of those 2 different malls. On the first incident, the victim actually jumped in front of her family who accompanied her to the mall. Deep condolences to the  family.

That being said, I really can’t imagine what the victims are going through that make them decide to commit suicide right in that spot? I’m not and have no right to judge suicide, because there are just some people who go through things that maybe beyond what i can comprehend. I get that. But, what can be so devastating that make them can’t wait until he/she get to a more private place to do it? after all suicide is a really private business. Unless if thy are trying to make some sort of statement that is.

Surely, there are lots of other boring way to exit this miserable world such as OD on pills, drinks cleaning products, slit your wrist, blow your head up with a gun, etc but jumping off fifth floor is really a dumb way to go. I mean come on! you could ended up paralyze for life instead of dead, which is worst.

just sayin’ ok!

So what would be “the way” for me? I guess it will involve sky diving from a cliff or plane (or something). So on the long free fall way down i still get to think if there is really no other way for me. Who knows if the adrenalin kick in and I suddenly realize that i still have so much to live for and decide pull the parachute instead (which will be great because i get some kind of second chance), or stick to the suicide plan (which will be great too, because mission will definitely be accomplished in a awesome way)

Again, just sayin’

Pizzeria da Michelle 2

Oct10

I’m currently reading Eat, Pray & Love, a #1 New York Time Bestseller by Elizabeth Gilbert and i must say i’m completely charmed by it. The book is about the writer herself who was on her thirties, has great career as journalist/writer, a husband and a lovely country home - in short, she has everything a woman supposed to want. But instead of feeling happy and fulfilled, she was consumed by panic and depression. So she left everything behind and set out on a journey to italy for pleasure, india for spiritual devotion, and bali to find a balance between worldly enjoynment and divine transcendence.

I’m nowhere near finish the book yet, and what interest me is clearly not about the author life issues.

I think she has the most mouth-watering way in describing the pizza she found in Naples, Italy. Check out the quote below and see if you agree with me.

“So i have come to Pizzeria da Michelle, and i love my pizza so much that i have come to believe in my delirium that my pizza might actually love me, in return. I am having a relationship with this pizza, almost an affair.

“I always thought we only have two choices in our lives when it came to pizza crust - thin and crispy or thick and doughy. How was I to have known there could be a crust in this world that was thin and doughy? Holy of Holies! Thin, doughy, strong, gummy, yummy, chewy, salty pizza paradise.”
“On top there is a sweet tomato sauce that foams up bubbly and creamy when it melts the fresh buffallo mozarella, and the one sprig of basil in the middle of the whole deal somehow infuses the entrire pizza with herbal and radiance.

Oh man, don’t you want to have a slice of the pizza she is talking about? I’m going to Naples one day, just for the pizza.

oh, while i’m there, couldn’t hurt to have the pistachio gelato too…and capuccino, and risotto, and all kind of pasta..

From recent trip to spore, this is me eating all sort of food i can find.

Ah Bai Ling Peanut Soup @Chinatown
Best peanut soup i ever taste. The peanuts have been boiled long enough until it gets nice and very soft. The skin of the Ah Balling is smooth and chewy and the fillings come in six different flavors, including the Green Tea! But i still love the peanut filling the most. SGD 2 for a bowl

Prata is so yummy! Roti prata is the Singaporean evolution of the Pakistani and Indian paratha, a pancake bread made of dough composed of fat, egg, flour and water. It is traditionally served with curry or with sugar. Very easy to find in spore.
